Here you go: L'outil Some look like this. Document ID# 307691 1999 Chevrolet/Geo Corvette -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In-Line Fuel Filter Replacement Removal Procedure Tool Required J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
Important There is no service interval for the fuel filter replacement. Only replace a restricted fuel filter. Clean the fuel tanks if you find a restricted fuel filter.
Caution Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure . Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. Lower the left muffler (auto trans equipped vehicles only). Refer to Muffler Replacement in Engine Exhaust. Clean all the fuel filter/pressure regulator connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting the fuel pipes in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe quick-connect fitting (1) from the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) . Disconnect the fuel return pipe quick-connect fitting (4) from the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
Remove the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket mount nut (2). Disconnect the fuel system ground strap from the fuel filter/pressure regulator mounting stud.
Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (3) from the outlet side of the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2).
Remove the fuel filter/pressure regulator and bracket (1) from the stud (3). Cap the fuel pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination. Remove the fuel filter/pressure regulator from the bracket. Installation Procedure
Remove the protective caps from the new fuel filter/pressure regulator. Install the new plastic quick connector retainers on the fuel filter/pressure regulator inlet and outlet tubes. Install the new retainers in the same positions as on the old fuel filter/pressure regulator. Install the fuel filter/pressure regulator into the bracket. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes. Connect the fuel feed pipe (3) to the outlet side of the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2).
Install the fuel filter/pressure regulator and the bracket (1) to the mounting stud (3).
Engage the anti-rotation tab (3) of the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket (2) into the hole of the tunnel reinforcement (1).
Connect the fuel system ground strap to the fuel filter/pressure regulator mounting stud.
Notice Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket nut (2). Tighten Tighten the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket nut to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).
Connect the fuel return quick-connect fitting (4) to the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) . Connect the fuel feed quick-connect fitting (1) to the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) . Raise the left muffler (auto trans equipped vehicles only). Refer to Muffler Replacement in Engine Exhaust. Lower the vehicle. Tighten the fuel filler cap. Connect the negative battery cable. Inspect for leaks. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check for fuel leaks. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry. Perform the idle learn procedure. Refer to PCM Idle Learn Procedure .
