MGW Shifter

Bonjour

Tout le monde à l'air unanime pour dire que c'est la première modif à faire sur une corvette.

En plus tu tarif raisonnable 250$, il semble que les passages de vitesses soient vraiment améliorés

J'ai lu quelques problèmes de bruit avec les z06, quelqu'un a déjà fait cette modif sur sa Z?

J'aimerai bien avoir des retours avant de me lancer.

Voila une explication donnée par un ingénieur de chez GM au sujet des vibrations du shifter sur certaines Z. Il y a eu pour info un rappel (SB) pour changer le shifter le 13/08/07:

..You make reference to the plastic bushing at the lower end of the shift lever and your suspicion this is the cause of the rattle. There normally can be a small amount of clearance between this bushing and the steel ball on the end of the rod, and between the outside of the bushing and the "cage" in the lower part of the shifter. You have (correctly) figured out that changing this plastic bushing to rubber would add undesirable play and "mushiness" to the shifter. However - this bushing is not the one causing the noise, and not the one that will be changed.

The part we are changing is not visible and the only way to see it would be to saw apart the shift lever. If you've had your shifter apart, you noticed the lever flares out to a larger diameter at the lower end, right above where it enters the body of the shifter. Inside this large diameter portion there is an isolator bushing meant to absorb some of the shock of hard shifts. In order to keep some precision to the lever, this bushing is only allowed to deflect a small amount, and its deflection is limited by a hard nylon "donut" pressed into the upper part of the flared region. The lower shaft rattling inside the small clearance to this nylon donut causes the "buzz". The donut is being changed to a hard urethane rubber to stop the noise. We will likely be issuing a technical bulletin to the dealers soon, allowing customers with the rattle to get a new shift lever containing the rubber travel limiter.

The reason some people have had luck changing to a different shift knob is because when you change the knob mass, you shift the natural frequency of the lever, moving it out of the range where maximum vibration occurs. But then another person might change the knob to one with similar mass and will not see a change in the noise. I can see how people have been confused by this issue! Most cars don't really see the issue because the combination of clearances and natural frequncies don't line up "just right" to produce a noise.

En changeant pour un MGW, tu ne devrais donc pas avoir de vibration, à moins que tu aies lu quelque chose à ce sujet? Pour moi c'est le shifter d'origine qui posait problème.

En gros le problème de bruit n'est pas lié au shifter MGW mais un défaut GM, le fait de changer ne changera rien!!!

J'ai pas l'impression d'avoir ce bruit, donc je crois que je vais me lancer prochainement

Oui c'est ça, c'est les premiers shifters GM sur les Z qui ont posé problème, tu peux foncer.

La mienne est de 2007, je ne sais pas si le rappel à été fait, mais j'ai pas le bruit et c'est ce qui compte

Disons que même si tu avais le bruit, comme tu veux le changer ça aurait corrigé le problème.
